My thoughts
I really didn’t know what to expect with this book. The blurb was so mysterious and that I honestly had no prior thoughts other than that I needed answers!!
What an amazing debut from Cory Anderson!! First of all the pacing of this book was spectacular and I honestly couldn’t fault it. At no point was I bored and it really held my interest the whole time. The plot was full of mystery and I loved not knowing what was coming after each chapter.
I thought that Jack’s character and background were developed incredibly well and I found myself really liking him. I pitied Jack and his brother throughout the novel and I really just wanted the best for them. I also loved the idea of Ava’s characters. I would loved to have known more about her though because at times I felt I couldn’t connect with her fully.
This is such a thoughtful and emotional rollercoaster and I can’t recommend this book enough to those who love any genre. I love the dual perspective aspect and I really felt it added to the overall impact of the book. Jack’s story will stay with me for a long while.
There will be many trigger aspects of this story so please check these before picking this book up to read.
This is a book that forces you to experience all emotions and I loved the journey of Jack, Ava and Matty. I really would recommend this to all but please be aware of trigger warnings. Also be prepared to shed a tear 😭
